Need your Vitamin C?

Vitamin C, as those found in Youth Juice,  is another fantastic water soluble vitamin that keeps the human body healthy and is found in some of our favorite foods.  Vitamin C is also commonly referred to as L-ascorbic acid and is absolutely necessary for human survival.  This vitamin is also an antioxidant which provides the human body with numerous health benefits that include warning off cancer and oxidative stress.  Without this precious vitamin flowing through our system and being absorbed into the body, we would be unable to function.

Vitamin C Working as an Antioxidant Agent

Due to the levels of ascorbic acid found in vitamin C, the key elements of ascorbic acid are present.  Since this particular type of acid is known for its antioxidant work, vitamin C is able to undo oxidation in the body.  If free radicals (caused by oxidation which lead to cancer) are located in the body and they out number the antioxidant level in the human body, it can lead the body to suffer from various diseases including hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and chronic inflammatory diseases.  Therefore, when ascorbic acid is introduced into the human system, it can have a very therapeutic effect in lowering the oxidative stress levels.

Recommended Consumption of Vitamin C

Most doctors agree that the best way to receive vitamin C is through natural products that contain the vitamin rather than through a pill.  The recommended doses for this water soluble vitamin varies but what is known is that these intakes must be consistent and on a daily basis.  The daily intake can be anywhere from 75 to 2000 milligrams per day.  One of the most common diseases that come as a result of a vitamin C deficiency is Scurvy.  Therefore, consuming a regular doses of vitamin C according to the recommended intake, scurvy can be prevented.

Sources of Vitamin C

Vitamin C can be supplied from various sources and consumed anywhere from the original source to powdered drinks, tablets and capsules.  The two most highly concentrated fruits with Vitamin C as the Kakadu Plum (3100mg/100g) and the Camu Camu (2800/100g).  Other fruits and vegetables that contain vitamin C include papaya, strawberry, lemons, cauliflower, plums, grapes, watermelons, carrots, rose hip. Mandarin oranges, grapefruit, red pepper, parsley, kiwifruit, passion fruit, spinach, apples, peaches, guavas, pineapples, blueberries, Goji, Brussels sprouts, lettuce, cucumbers, mangos, honeydew, potatoes and blackberries.   Vitamin C can also be found in these following sources: oysters, pork, milk, lamb brain, chicken liver, cod roe, beef liver, lamb liver, calf liver, lamb heart and chicken liver.
