Antioxidants – The Right Nutrient for Health
Antioxidants – The Simplest Way To Good Health
Summary
Our diet should include the required amount of antioxidants to keep ourselves healthy. In our daily life, a normal healthy diet should include a substantial amount of nutrients. Antioxidants are nutrients which build up our body cells, increase immunity from diseases and help to gain maximum energy.
Oxidants are free radicals which are harmful for the body. The sources of oxidants are sunlight, pollution, junk foods, cigarette smoking etc. Oxidants to a great extent reduce immunity, speed up ageing, result in several diseases like cancer, cataract, heart disease, arthritis etc. When the antioxidants react with these free radicals, it reduces the risk of cancer and heart diseases.
There are several sources of antioxidants. Few are produced inside the body, while others are found in food like, leafy vegetables rich in Vitamins A, C and E. These vitamins are constituted in several fruits and vegetables and sea weeds.
The antioxidant, polyphenol is a healthy nutrient which helps in reducing inflammation in the body and prevents cardiovascular diseases, joint pain and tumors. Polyphenol reduces the risk of pre-mature aging and weight loss. Seanol, an antioxidant extracted from seaweed reduces the risk of cancer and is a strong energy stimulant. Seaweed by itself helps in the prevention and spread of cancer.
The vegetables rich in polyphenol are spinach, broccoli, sprouts, beets, red peppers, carrots and tomatoes and nutritious fruits are berries, pink grapefruit, oranges, apricots, plums, peaches, papaya and red grapes.
Therefore, a well-balanced diet with the adequate amount of antioxidants in food and special attention to the guidelines is essential to prevent chronic diseases and early aging.
